From La Gomera's first private swimming pool arises a stunning view over the southern canyons of the island towards the blue Atlantic. The villa's owner is an art collector, he enriched the villa with original paintings and drawings of Canarian artists. The property with its own access road and parking lot accommodates a Japanese garden as well as a Feng Shui garden, there are no direct neighbours. The nearest restaurant and a supermarket are 8 km away, in Alajeró, the beach of Playa de Santiago and the golf course 15 km.
"Hi, I'm writing to let you know that all aspects of the holiday you arranged for us either met or exceeded our expectations. From the initial enquiry to the end of our holiday everything went smoothly (and you even organised good weather!) Many thanks"
John
"This has been a most memorable holiday for us Mar de Piedra is indeed a precious discovery a place to relax, reminisce and re-evaluate in wonderful isolation. Early morning with it's birdsong, the sound of goat bells followed by the glint of the rising sun on the sea below. We have marvelled at the magnificence that is the island of La Gomera, watched white mists cover the mountains like lace and crimson sunsets through veils of clouds casting a pink and orange sheen across the water. Arriving after dark, driving with everything on the 'wrong side', negotiating the endless hair-pin bends, the food and bottle of wine was most welcome. We have achieved many walks both along the byeways of the national parks and more challengingly others including clambering up the riverbed from Alajeró to 'El Drago' and the walk from the monument by Roque Agando, down to Benchijigua and back again! Thank you for allowing us to share your home, a 'special place' indeed we will be back."
Judith & David
"Just what we needed to recharge the batteries, so peaceful! With beautiful walks and to watch the sunset in the evenings."
Frank & Margaret
"It is hard to believe this is our 4th visit! We love it so much here and over the years have noticed improvements, in particular the mountain road and the private access driveway! The weather has been more temperamental than we recall over past Octobers, so we have spent more time exploring this side of the island, re-visiting favourite walks and finding new ones. Today we ventured into the Park area, never enjoying it with swirling low cloud but we were very lucky and indeed did a circular, parking by Las Creces sign on the central road, crossing over, going towards Vallehermoso and branching off again, ending up near Arure and back via Las Hayas to Las Creces once more. Many thanks and we hope to come again!"
Minna & John
"The house and surroundings were everything we had expected and more! We all felt at home and missed not a thing! Pure luxery. We went on many hikes around the island so varied and so beautiful given the chance we shall return "
J & C
"...again it was beautiful to be here in Mar de Piedra, and again we will come back some time."
Ilona & Christian
"Thank you Mar de Piedra! Your lovely isolated patio and pool, fantastic walks, the sky at night and the soundscape, all worked their magic. We are returning home renewed and revitalized. We will be back! Next year."
Jane & Bill
"Mar de Piedra fullfilled truly all our wishes!"
Urs & Elena
"This is the perfect escape. We've had two weeks of unbroken sunshine and starlit nights and absolute peace. Until next year..."
Bill & Jane
"Our expectations were met fully the house, the view, the pool, the hikes, the seclusion and isolation were all totally fantastic and made for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. We managed to save two live lizards that had fallen into the pool, and also made friends with a small green frog splashing about at night, 'training for the frog olympics...'. We are very grateful for having had the opportunity to stay here and would very much like to come back another time. Thanks also to Paul for arranging an extension of our stay and preparing the house so welcomingly! "
Lars & Kathleen
"Yet another wonderful stay. We love this place. Thanks for all the great improvements since last year! We'll be back."
Jane & Bill
"Thanks a lot for a really pleseant stay here on your small island on Gomera. We enjoyed the view, the quietness + the birds. All the best"
Annette & Bernhard
"It seems superfluous to add to the descriptions of previous visitors. We have found all of them to be true. The utter silence is, in our view, the most outstanding feature. Hiking all over the island you seldom meet other hikers. Driving, you rarely see other cars. Sitting on the terrace, there is silence. We hope this will never change and this, added to the fabulous landscape, would be the one thing to draw us back to La Gomera and Villa Mar de Piedra."
Oda & Pieter
"Just a short belated message to let you know what a fantastic holiday we had. It was beyond our expectations. The views from the Villa and the mountains were spectacular. We would just like to thank you for all your help and we hope we will be able to visit again sometime in the future."
Linda & Brian "Villa Mar de Piedra is defintively a paradise piece and we would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend a week in such a magical place. We have appreciated the boundless space in front of us, the colours of sky and sea which vary all the day long and have enjoyed listening to silence. We just couldn't bring ourselves to leave Villa Mar de Piedra but we had several books to read! Fortunately we stayed the previous week in Valley Gran Rey and we had no problem going for walks. We were delighted to discover the beauty of the landscape and the richness of the flora. We hope and wish La Gomera will succeed in developing tourism without spoiling its wild natural beauty."
Eliette & Christian "Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed Mar de Piedra. It was a fantastic experience and the island of La Gomera is just so beautiful. The location was just superb and the view stunning, we have not enjoyed such a holiday in long time."
Pete & Jane
In the South of La Gomera, in the community of Alajeró, lies the village of Arguayoda. From every vantage point there are terrific views of the Atlantic Ocean, the sunrise and the sunset. Goats and wild donkies are grazing through high grasses which are swaying in the winds on the edge of the canyons.
